THE SMOOTHEST FROZEN MARGARITA

There are two keys to making the best frozen margs. First, get the ingredients right. A good quality tequila blanco, orange liqueur and fresh lime juice are a few of the usual suspects. Second, using the right blender matters. The best blender for frozen margaritas can pulverize ice effectively over and over, without breaking a sweat. Follow these two easy rules and your smooth, icy blended cocktails will be the talk of the party!

HOW TO MAKE A FROZEN MARGARITA

Step 1: Blend it

Add all of the margarita ingredients from the recipe card (except the garnishes) to your Tiger blender and blend for 1 minute with the speed dial set to 8 or 9.

Step 2: Salt the rim of the glass

The easiest way to do this is to wet the rim of your glass with a lime wedge. Spread kosher salt on a small plate and gently drag the rim of the glass through the salt.

Step 3: Cheers!

Pour and garnish with a lime wedge and sip away. Kicking your feet up at this point is optional, but recommended.

Pro tip: For a frozen margarita that stays cold, chill the glass beforehand. Just place your margarita glasses in the freezer for 45 minutes to an hour. Take them out just before pouring the margaritas.

TIPS AND VARIATIONS

  • Try a spicy margarita. Add a fresh serrano chili (or a Thai chili if you like to breathe actual fire). Rim the glass with Tajin – or a combination of salt and gochugaru (smoky Korean dried red chili pepper powder).
  • Make a skinny margarita. Fresh margaritas are fairly ‘skinny’ already. But you can shave a few more calories off if you’d like. Use fresh OJ. Swap the honey for agave nectar – and use just half the Cointreau from the original recipe for a low-cal frozen margarita that still pops in all the right ways.
  • Use fresh strawberries to make a frozen strawberry margarita. Follow the exact recipe on this page – but add ¼ cup hulled strawberries to the mix. Be sure they’re fresh and sweet for the best fruity frozen cocktail.
