WHAT IS BANANA MILK

Banana milk is a flavored milk that is super popular in South Korea. Think of it as a sweetened up version of dairy milk that is less aggressively sweet than commercially produced chocolate milk or strawberry milk. And since you only use bananas, it’s all natural.

BEST BANANAS FOR BANANA MILK

Just make sure your bananas are ripe and you’re good to go. If your bananas are still green, let them sit on the counter for a day or two until uniformly yellow. However, super ripe bananas are perfect too! While the brown peel might not be pleasing to the eye, the sweetness of over-ripe bananas will make your homemade banana milk that much sweeter.

HOW TO MAKE BANANA MILK

Simply add your milk, ice and banana to your Tiger blender. Blend for 1 minute at speed setting 6. That’s it! Pour into glasses and top with a small dash of cinnamon. We think you’ll love this icy cold sweet treat anytime of the day – whether as an afternoon snack or workout recovery drink.

TIPS AND VARIATIONS

  • Make it sweeter. Sure bananas are perfectly sweet. But if you have a raging sweet tooth, you can easily up the sweetness a bit. Simple syrup (a sweet mixture of equal parts sugar and water) would work. Honey, agave nectar and maple syrup are all great contenders as well. Add a little bit at a time and taste as you go. You can always add more!
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg. Shave a tiny bit of nutmeg on top of each cup before serving. It looks fancy, and nutmeg tastes great with cinnamon.
  • Go vegan. Simply substitute the traditional dairy milk for oat milk, almond milk or soy milk.
  • Add vanilla. Just a drop of pure vanilla extract adds an almost marshmallow flavor to the finished banana milk. It elevates the sweetness of the bananas without toppling over into cloying territory. Most Korean banana milk recipes call for a tiny bit of vanilla. Delicious!
