Bring out the flavor according to the type of riceRice Cooking Settings

Bring out the flavor of each rice brand.

Cooking programs designed for specific rice brands

utilizing data from the Association of Certified Rice Flavor Analysts are initially installed together with the application.

This is made possible by the cooperation of the Association of Certified Rice Flavor Analysts, which organizes the International Contest on Rice Taste Evaluation, the largest rice competition in Japan and abroad. The fifty brands were carefully selected based on the association’s analysis of over 5,700 brands of rice and our own data accumulated over the past fifty years. Tiger’s unique brand-specific cooking function reflects the intentions of the rice producers in the taste of the rice.

Furthermore, the characteristics of rice vary not only by brand but also by season and harvest year. Just as ryotei restaurants cook their rice by adjusting the amount of water and heat according to the condition of the rice, these rice cooking programs are regularly updated to reflect the year and season, allowing you to cook delicious rice automatically.

Setup instructions

A limited program to make the most of the flavor of new rice has been released for the first harvest season

New rice Homare-Daki

Depending on the region, the new rice of the year is harvested from around the end of August. New rice contains a lot of water and requires some finesse to cook well. The JPA-Z offers a special rice cooking program to bring out the optimal texture of new rice.

  • *Special rice cooking programs are not available during some seasons.

Special rice cooking program distribution information

The texture is springy and firm. The rice tastes like it was cooked in a ceramic pot.

Far-infrared, five-layer, heat-sealing, ceramic coated inner pot

about 106℃*1. The inner pot combines high thermal efficiency and heat retention properties with an optimal pressure adjustment mechanism for cooking rice,
resulting in a quality similar to that of rice cooked in a ceramic pot.
Compared with a conventional Tiger product, the far-infrared effect has been enhanced because of an increase in the amount of the ceramic powder used for the heat-sealing ceramic coating used on the exterior of the inner pot.*2
The rice cooker traps the sweetness of the rice to cook fluffy rice.

  • *1Temperature of the inner pot when boiling at 1.25 atm. (Based on our research)
  • *2Approx. 1.0% increase. Based on a comparison of the inner pots of the JPA-Z100 and the conventional Tiger product JPA-X100 (made in 2022). This is a comparison of integrated emissivity between the models when the temperatures of the outside bottoms of the pots are 160℃ (assuming actual temperatures while cooking rice). JPA-Z100: 83.56%, JPA-X100: 82.50% (based on our research)

Variable double-pressure system to bring out stickiness and springiness

Two pressure balls, one large and one small, are controlled to cook the rice thoroughly, bringing out the stickiness of the rice. A pressure of 1.25 atm is applied during cooking to bring out the stickiness and springiness of the rice. After cooking, a pressure of 1.05 atm is applied to steam the rice at high temperatures so that firm rice grains can be produced with minimal clumping.

Pot-encasing IH with an effect similar to a clay oven

The IH heater encasing the inner pot heats a larger surface area of the pot. With this “pot-encasing IH” technique, higher heat and heat storage performance have been achieved. Heating a larger surface area of the pot increases the amount of heat applied to the rice, bringing out the natural sweetness of the rice.

Producing a refined, springy texture

A “Frozen Rice” setting that allows you to cook delicious rice suitable for freezing

This setting employs a program that allows you to cook delicious rice suitable for freezing. In order to eliminate the dryness that occurs when frozen rice is defrosted, as well as the clumpiness that occurs when it is reheated in the microwave, the rice is given a longer time to absorb water than regular white rice, resulting in a fluffy core with minimal clumps so that the delicious flavor is not lost even after the rice has been frozen.

“Sushi/Curry” setting that keeps textures distinct

This convenient setting is used to cook with a less sticky, more grainy texture suitable for sushi and curry.

Special setting designed for healthy barley rice
