~Proposing the “4th Generation” of Automatic Cooking Appliances That Embrace the Spread of “Cancel Cooking”~
Tiger Corporation (CEO: Yoshisato Kikuchi, Headquarters: Kadoma City, Osaka), a world leader in thermal control technology, will release the “Multi-Grill Cooker GRISIA CLX-A400” on Saturday, November 21, 2026. This sixteen-function-in-one automatic cooking appliance is the industry’s first*1 to feature both carbon heater and IH heater technologies on the top and bottom, enabling double-sided grilling. In conjunction with this, we are announcing the results of the “Survey on Awareness of Home Cooking” conducted among 888 men and women in their 20s to 50s nationwide (444 men, 444 women / 222 in each age group). *1 Based on our research (as of October 2026). In regard to domestic automatic cooking pots for home use that are equipped with a carbon heater and an IH heater and capable of double-sided grilling.
In recent years, “cancel cooking”—intentionally skipping Cooking Wares and processes that were previously taken for granted—has been attracting attention, especially among younger generations, with trends like the “knife cancel community” and “stove cancel community.” According to a survey conducted by Tiger Corporation, the number of Cooking Wares used in the past six months by people in their 20s was 5.1 fewer on average than those in their 40s and 50s, remaining at only about 60% of the variety used by the older age groups. Additionally, there was an average difference of 3.2 Cooking steps between those in their 20s and 50s, with those in their 50s performing about 1.5 times as many steps as those in their 20s. Similar to the number of Cooking Wares used, there is a trend for younger generations to narrow down the steps when Cooking. On the other hand, even as the “stove cancel community” and “microwave cooking” attract attention, the overwhelming majority of Cooking methods most commonly performed is “grilling/stir-frying.” Furthermore, the top priorities in home Cooking were “saving time,” “reducing Cooking steps,” and “making it delicious.” “Grill Cooking” such as grilling and stir-frying is one of the Cooking methods where “reducing Cooking steps” is difficult, requiring heat adjustment, keeping an eye out to prevent burning, turning ingredients over halfway, and checking if it’s done.
In this press release, we introduce the history of automatic cooking appliances that have enabled various forms of cancel cooking, as well as the “Multi-Grill Cooker GRISIA CLX-A400.” This sixteen-function-in-one appliance is the industry’s first*1 to feature carbon heater and IH heater technologies on the top and bottom, delivering deliciousness through authentic grill Cooking in addition to boiling and stir-frying.
Survey Summary

The Number of Cooking Wares Used in the Past Six Months by Those in Their 20s is About 60% of Those in Their 40s and 50s. Younger Generations Tend to Narrow Down Cooking Wares.
81.9% of people usually cook at home. Over 70% (72.9%) cook at home at least once a week. Looking at the number of Cooking Wares used in the past six months, the overall average is 11.5. By age group, the average is 8.5 for those in their 20s, and 13.6 for those in their 40s and 50s. People in their 20s used an average of 5.1 fewer items than those in their 40s and 50s, stopping at about 60% of the variety. The younger the age group, the stronger the tendency to narrow down Cooking Wares.

Cooking Steps Are Also Fewer for Younger Generations. People in Their 50s Perform About 1.5 Times As Many Steps As Those in Their 20s.
When asked about Cooking weekday dinners, it was found that the average number of Cooking steps from starting to completing “one main dish” is 8.0. By age group, there is a difference of 3.2 steps on average between those in their 20s and 50s, with those in their 50s performing about 1.5 times as many steps as those in their 20s. Similar to the use of Cooking Wares, there is a clear trend that younger generations narrow down the steps for Cooking.

“Knife Cancel” and “Fish Grill Cancel” Top the Cancel Cooking Trend. Half of People in Their 20s Skip Prep Tools and Steps. Cancel Cooking Tends to Spread Mainly Among Younger Generations.
Regarding what is most frequently skipped or avoided during the Cooking process, the results were 1st place: “Knife,” 2nd place: “Fish grill,” and 3rd place: “Cutting board.” In addition to “Knife cancel,” a tendency toward “Fish grill cancel” was also observed. By age group, there was a significant difference in the combined percentage of people skipping knives, cutting boards, peelers, and kitchen scissors. For those in their 20s, about one in two people most frequently skips prep tools or steps, while only about one in four does so in their 50s. Moreover, about 30% of those in their 50s answered that there is “nothing in particular” they skip or avoid. The trend of “cancel cooking” is expanding, centering on younger generations.

The Percentage of People Using the Stove 21 or More Times a Week is 22.5% for Those in Their 50s, Compared to 1.4% for Those in Their 20s. Meanwhile, the Overwhelmingly Most Common Cooking Method is “Grilling/Stir-Frying.”
Stove usage frequency showed a tendency to be lower among younger generations, with those in their 20s using it an average of 4.2 times less per week than those in their 50s. The percentage of respondents answering “21 or more times a week” was 22.5% for the 50s, but only 1.4% for the 20s. On the other hand, about 60% (59.3%) of respondents cited “grilling/stir-frying” as their most common Cooking method. It became clear that even in today’s era where microwave utilization is prominent, “grilling/stir-frying” remains the overwhelmingly most frequent Cooking method.

Priorities in Home Cooking Are “Saving Time” and “Reducing Cooking Steps”
Regarding priorities in home Cooking, the results were 1st place: “Shortening Cooking time (19.1%),” 2nd place: “Reducing Cooking steps as much as possible (16.2%),” and 3rd place: “Making it delicious (11.7%).” Although saving time and reducing household chores were highly prioritized, there was still a clear desire for deliciousness.

A New Evolution for the Overwhelmingly Frequent Cooking Method “Grilling/Stir-Frying.” Moving Toward the Product Development of the “4th Generation” of Automatic Cooking Appliances
While grilling and stir-frying are overwhelmingly the most frequent Cooking methods, they are also among the most difficult methods for “reducing Cooking steps,” as they require heat adjustment, monitoring to prevent burning, flipping ingredients halfway through, and checking doneness. Automatic cooking appliances have evolved alongside these changes in home Cooking.
The history of automatic cooking appliances dates back to the 1990s. The “1st generation,” considered the pioneer of electronic cooking pots, emerged then, but the deep-rooted psychological resistance that “using an electric pot is cutting corners” kept demand low. Around the year 2000, during the “early dual-income period” when dual-income households became common and all-electric homes spread, “IH cookers” adopting an IH heat source appeared as the “2nd generation.” From around 2015, we entered the “time-performance focus period,” evolving into the “3rd generation” with products featuring automatic stirring and IoT functions. In 2023, for the first time in about 20 years, our company released a Multi Cooker with Ten functions in one device.
Recently, as automatic cooking appliances continued to evolve, customers voiced that “heat adjustment for grill Cooking is difficult.” While conventional automatic cooking appliances excelled at simmering and steaming, there was room for further evolution in authentic “grill Cooking” that creates delicious browning and savory aromas.
Therefore, we developed the “Multi-Grill Cooker GRISIA CLX-A400” in pursuit of professional-grade finishes even in “grill Cooking.” By combining conventional automatic Cooking with “grill Cooking,” which features the industry’s first*1 dual-sided grilling enabled by carbon heater and IH heater technologies, this product was developed as the “4th generation” to showcase a new evolution in automatic cooking appliances. It cancels all steps like stirring, monitoring, and flipping, while still delivering authentic “grilled” deliciousness.

Overview of GRISIA, the New Product Positioned as the “4th Generation” of Automatic Cooking Appliances
The “Multi-Grill Cooker GRISIA CLX-A400” is equipped with a “double-sided grill” that achieves a savory golden brown, in addition to the boiling and stir-frying that traditional automatic cooking appliances excel at. Not only does it allow users to skip all Cooking steps, but it also focuses on “grill Cooking”—which is particularly frequent and difficult in home Cooking—to pursue a professional-grade finish. It was developed with the desire to allow people to easily cook and enjoy delicious meals at home, even amidst the spread of “cancel cooking.”
We propose this product as a next-generation automatic cooking appliance for daily use that replaces not only “gas stoves” and “IH cooking heaters” but also Toaster Ovens and “fish grills.”
