Tiger Corporation (CEO: Yoshisato Kikuchi, Headquarters: Kadoma City, Osaka), a world leader in thermal control technology, is pleased to announce that our “Lever-type Air Pump Jug PNB-type”—designed to allow users to pour hot water without putting strain on their fingers—has been registered as an FY2026 “Essential Historical Material for Science and Technology (Nickname: Future Technology Heritage)” by the National Museum of Nature and Science.

In conjunction with this honor, a Registration Certificate Award Ceremony was held at the National Museum of Nature and Science in Ueno, Tokyo, on September 29, 2026, attended by our CEO, Yoshisato Kikuchi. We would like to share the details of this registered technology and report on the ceremony.

Essential Historical Material for Science and Technology (Future Technology Heritage)

Launched in FY2008 by the National Museum of Nature and Science, this registration system aims to preserve and utilize materials spanning all fields of science and technology in Japan.
It selects and registers materials that hold “significant importance in the history of science and technology development to be passed on to the next generation,” or those that have had a “remarkable impact on the daily lives, society, and culture of the people.” These valuable historical materials are affectionately known as the “Future Technology Heritage,” serving as a legacy to be handed down to tomorrow.

【Registered Product】

Lever-type Air Pump Jug PNB-type (Manufactured in 1985)

【Reason for Selection】

This vacuum bottle was ingeniously designed so that users can dispense hot water while seated, without straining their fingers or worrying about their fingernails. Through dedicated research and surveys conducted by a female software development team, strong emphasis was placed on light operability and reducing the overall height without sacrificing capacity. By utilizing the principle of leverage for the handle and structuring the pump section within the upper shoulder of the inner bottle, the overall height was successfully reduced by 60 mm compared to conventional models. The ease of dispensing with a simple, light lever operation was warmly embraced by consumers, making it a highly significant product that contributed to the further popularization of Air Pump Jugs.

Scenes from the Registration Certificate Award Ceremony

The award ceremony was held in a solemn and respectful atmosphere, honoring numerous historical materials that have contributed to the advancement of Japanese science and technology. The registration certificate and a commemorative plaque were officially presented by Makoto Manabe, Director General of the National Museum of Nature and Science.

At the venue, panels introducing all 13 newly registered items were proudly exhibited. Taking this prestigious registration as an opportunity, Tiger Corporation will reaffirm the value of our excellent historical technological assets and use them as continuous inspiration for our next generation of manufacturing.
