[Survey on Awareness of Coffee, Caffeine, and Decaf] 40% of Coffee Lovers “Hold Back” Despite Wanting to Drink
Survey on Awareness of Coffee, Caffeine, and Decaf
40% of Coffee Lovers “Hold Back” Despite Wanting to Drink, Citing Sleep Quality Concerns. What Is the “Caffeine Management” Practiced by 1 in 7 People?
— Introducing Fully Automatic Coffee Makers Compatible with Decaf Beans, Delivering Authentic Flavor —
Tiger Corporation (CEO: Yoshisato Kikuchi, Headquarters: Kadoma City, Osaka), a world leader in thermal control technology, will release the [Fully Automatic Coffee Makers ADG-A060] on Thursday, October 1, 2026. This product is equipped with a “Decaf Menu” that draws out a deep flavor even from decaf beans, which are often perceived as lacking in taste.
In conjunction with this, we conducted an “Awareness Survey on Coffee and Caffeine” targeting 300 men and women in their 20s to 80s nationwide. In recent years, decaffeinated coffee has been expanding from a “substitute for a select few who want to avoid caffeine” to an “everyday coffee” chosen according to the time of day, physical condition, and its impact on sleep.
Accordingly, rather than a binary choice of “consuming/not consuming” caffeine, an increasing number of people are choosing ways to incorporate it that suit them, such as adjusting their intake according to the moment.
Therefore, Tiger Corporation investigated the actual conditions of daily coffee consumption and attitudes toward caffeine and decaf.
As a result, while over 90% (90.4%) of respondents answered that they “drink” or “occasionally drink” coffee, and over 80% (82.7%) answered that they “like” coffee, it was revealed that 40% (40.0%) answered that they “held back / thought about holding back despite wanting to drink coffee.” Reasons for holding back included “might not be able to sleep at night” and “might upset my stomach,” indicating a reality where people refrain from coffee out of concern for their sleep and physical condition, despite wanting to enjoy it.
Furthermore, regarding decaf, while taste-related hurdles remain such as “unsatisfying” (36.3%), “weak” (29.7%), and “has an unappetizing image” (26.3%), 59.0% answered that they “would like to drink it” if they could enjoy an “authentic flavor.” From this survey, it has become clear that while consumers have needs such as “wanting to enjoy coffee in the evening or at night” and “wanting to choose a drinking style that suits them while being mindful of caffeine intake,” there is a gap where they “feel decaf lacks flavor.”
This press release introduces the fully automatic Coffee Makers ADG-A060, which utilizes Tiger Corporation’s unique “Hybrid Extraction” and “Stepless Conical Burr Mill” to allow users to enjoy not only regular coffee beans but also decaf beans—which are often felt to be lacking—with a deep, authentic flavor.
Survey Summary
- Nearly 90% of people regularly drink coffee, and over 80% like it.

Enjoy an Authentic Flavor at Home, Even with Decaf [Fully Automatic Coffee Makers ADG-A060]
The ADG-A060 are fully automatic Coffee Makers equipped with our proprietary “Hybrid Extraction” (immersion x pour-over) and a “Stepless Conical Burr Mill.”
This product adopts a “unique Hybrid Extraction” that combines the “Pour-over (Drip) Method,” a common extraction method where hot water passes through coffee grounds to extract components, with the “Immersion Method,” typified by siphons and French presses, where coffee grounds are steeped in hot water to draw out sweetness and richness.
Furthermore, it utilizes a “Stepless Conical Burr Mill,” allowing you to easily enjoy the deep, clear-tasting coffee unique to hybrid extraction using freshly ground coffee beans. It also features four selectable brewing menus: Rich, Strong, Decaf, and Iced. Among these, the Decaf Menu makes it possible to extract a deep flavor from decaf beans—which are often felt to be lacking—through a unique extraction technology that incorporates the immersion method.
Moreover, by incorporating regular coffee beans and decaf beans according to your preference, you can also enjoy finding your “perfect caffeine amount” suited to the time of day or your mood. Whether you want to enjoy a robust coffee in the morning, wish to hold back slightly from the evening onwards, or prefer something lighter today according to your physical condition, we propose a coffee time tailored to your daily life rhythm.
* Caffeine amounts vary depending on the type of beans, blend, brewing conditions, etc. We do not guarantee accurate caffeine content.
