Aiming to Reduce Thermal Load Through Technical Support for Insulation Building Materials in an Urban Data Center Demonstration Experiment Conducted by Four Tokyu Group Companies Under a Railway Viaduct

Tiger Corporation (CEO: Yoshisato Kikuchi, Headquarters: Kadoma, Osaka), a global leader in thermal control technology, is providing technical support regarding insulation building materials for the “Demonstration Experiment for the Introduction of Urban Data Centers.” This initiative was launched in June 2026 by Tokyu Corporation, Tokyu Railways, its communications Inc., and Tokyu Construction Co., Ltd.

The “Stainless Steel Vacuum Insulation Panel (TIVIP),” for which Tiger Corporation is providing technical support, is an insulation material that applies the vacuum insulation technology cultivated through our vacuum flasks. With its exceptional insulation performance, it stabilizes the temperature environment inside the module-type data center and prevents cooled air from escaping. This directly contributes to the stable operation of servers and improved cooling efficiency. Furthermore, its ultra-thin and compact design ensures that equipment installation space is never compromised, even when facing severe dimensional constraints inside the module. Even in limited and specialized environments—such as under elevated railway tracks—we will support the practical application of urban data centers through superior insulation and cooling performance, ultimately contributing to the development of space- and energy-saving next-generation digital infrastructure.

TIVIP’s Insulation Performance and Expansion into Construction Applications

TIVIP is a high-performance insulation material that utilizes stainless steel foil to maintain an internal vacuum state, keeping thermal conductivity remarkably low. This makes it highly suitable for temperature management in strictly confined spaces.

Recently, at the request of Tokyu Construction—the primary implementer of this demonstration experiment regarding the introduction of urban data centers—we have supplied TIVIP for the project.

Moving forward, Tokyu Construction will verify TIVIP’s practicality as an insulation building material for urban data centers by closely monitoring temperature stability and cooling efficiency within the module-type facility.

How to Solve Insulation Challenges in Urban Data Centers

In urban data centers, efficiently exhausting the heat generated by servers while continuously delivering cold air to designated areas is absolutely critical. By utilizing TIVIP in module-type data centers to insulate the cooling areas “like a vacuum flask,” we make it difficult for cooled air to escape, thereby supporting highly stable temperature management.
