From March 20, 2024, elementary and junior high school students and others in the Noto area are invited to experience cooking
“Tiger Kamado” rice at the National Noto Youth Exchange House.
Tiger Corporation (President: Yoshisato Kikuchi, Head Office: Kadoma, Osaka), a world leader in thermal control technology, concluded a comprehensive agreement with the National Institution for Youth Education on March 11, 2024, for the purpose of fostering sound youth through disaster education and other activities.
Since October 2023, we have been selling “Tiger Kamado”, a product that uses newspaper as fuel to easily cook freshly cooked rice without using electricity or gas. This product was developed with the hope that people in Japan, a country prone to natural disasters, will be able to enjoy a hot meal anytime they want, maintaining even a little peace of mind and body in the severe environment of a disaster-stricken area.
We have signed a comprehensive agreement with the National Institution for Youth Education to improve children’s disaster awareness and disaster response skills, STEAM education, and disaster prevention education in collaboration with local governments and other organizations.
Prior to the general release of “Tiger Kamado KMD-A,” we have been working with the National Institution for Youth Education for disaster prevention activities for young people by providing opportunities to use the product at the National Olympics Memorial Youth Center and the National Awaji Youth Exchange Center from March 2023, and by exhibiting at events organized by the National Institution for Youth Education.
With the conclusion of this agreement, we will address the challenges faced by society and youth by promoting disaster prevention education and contribute to the sound development of youth.

2. Regarding recent initiatives
We will provide a place to experience rice cooking using “Tiger Kamado” at the “Sakura Festival Happy Smile Day – Have an Egao Day” and “Refresh Spring Camp” scheduled to be held at “National Noto Youth Exchange House” in late March. The initiatives is intended for elementary and junior high school students in the Noto area who have limited access to leisure activities, meals, bathing, and study time due to the Noto Peninsula earthquake, to refresh their minds and bodies through group hands-on activities.

Cooking rice using “Tiger Kamado”
In Japan, a country that often sees natural disasters, we took on the challenge of developing a product to help create an environment where disaster victims can be fed well at disaster sites to allow them to have peace of mind and maintain good health even under such harsh environments. We came up with the idea for this product based on our wish to make it possible for anyone to eat hot cooked rice at any time, and then conducted surveys by interviewing actual victims of past disasters with the aim of creating a product that would be really needed in disaster situations. This product is designed to have a structure that enables heat transfer in the same way as a genuine clay oven, so as to bring out the sweetness and plumpness of rice.
The products used in this event are products that can be provided in a sustainable manner by reusing the inner pots of rice cookers that we have as aftermarket parts for repair or replacement and were scheduled for disposal.
