With severe cold weather expected this year, about 73% of respondents said they would like to be conscious of “warming up”.

2022-11-22

Males in their 20s were the most likely to say they are currently “warming up”!
About 74.4% of those who are warming up started warming up after the Corona Disaster.

The No. 1 warming activity they are adopting is “drinking hot beverages.
About 60% of respondents said they take a hot beverage with them when they go out during the cold season.

Tiger Corporation (President: Yoshisato Kikuchi, Head Office: Kadoma, Osaka), a world leader in heat control technology, conducted an online survey of 668 men and women in their teens to 40s nationwide from October 25 to November 1. The term “Onkatsu” refers to activities to raise body temperature by reviewing one’s daily diet and lifestyle habits, and this year, when severe cold weather is expected, about 73% of all respondents said they would like to be aware of “Onkatsu”. The largest proportion of respondents in their 20s were men in their 20s at the time of the survey who answered that they were taking part in “warm activities. The No. 1 warming activity taken up was “drinking warm drinks,” followed by “soaking in the bathtub” and “warming the body with belly wraps, leg warmers, etc.” in No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Both men and women in their teens and 20s tended to suffer from “coldness” and “sensitivity to cold,” with a marked difference between men and women in their 30s and 40s.

The number of “warm-activating men” is on the rise! The largest number of men in their 20s answered that they are currently “warming up.

The number of respondents who “know” or “have heard of onkatsu” accounted for 66% of the total, indicating a high level of awareness. When the 442 respondents who knew or had heard of “Nekkatsu” were asked if they were practicing “Nekkatsu” after explaining again what Nekkatsu is, the majority (92%) responded that they were practicing Nekkatsu, that they were not currently practicing but would when the temperature drops, or that they were not practicing but were interested in it, indicating a high interest in “Nekkatsu. This shows the high level of interest in “warm activities.
The percentage of respondents in their 20s was the highest among both men and women who were “warm-activating” at the time of the survey, with men in their 20s being the most common. This indicates that “warming activity” is attracting attention among young people, regardless of gender.
While the overall percentage of interest in “warming activities” was higher among women, when broken down by gender, it was found that men in their 20s are taking up “warming activities” to the same extent as women.

The most common method of warming up was “drinking warm drinks such as white water” at about 66%.

The most common method of “warming up” was “drinking warm drinks such as white water” at 66%, followed by “taking a bath in a hot tub” at 54% and “warming the body with a belly band, leg warmers, etc.” at 51%. Soaking in the bathtub” at 54%, and “Warming the body with a belly/leg warmer, etc.” at 51% were the most popular. All of these easy-to-use methods were popular.
Of those who drink hot beverages for “warming up,” white water was the most popular (83%), followed by green tea (hot) and coffee (78%).
As for hot beverages, 60.6% of the respondents answered that they “take hot beverages with me when I go out” during the cold season, indicating that more than half of the respondents carry hot beverages with them. The most common method of carrying hot drinks was “a stainless steel water bottle (thermos bottle or vacuum insulated) that can retain heat,” which was used by about 64% of respondents.
In addition, about 55% of respondents keep hot drinks in stainless steel water bottles (thermos bottles or vacuum-insulated bottles) at home during the cold season, indicating that stainless steel water bottles that can keep drinks warm are used in a variety of situations. One reason for this may be that more people work from home and carry their drinks close at hand.

Of those who are “warming up,” 74.4% started warming up after the Corona Disaster.
This year, when severe cold weather is expected, about 73% of all respondents want to be aware of “warming activities.

Of those who engage in “warm-air activities,” 74.4% started warm-air activities after the Corona Disaster. One of the reasons for this may be that many people feel “cold” more easily due to decreased physical activity caused by working from home and increased time spent at home, and many are newly adopting warm-assisted living as a means to solve this problem.
After explaining what “warm-activation” is to those who had never heard of it, we asked the entire group again, and about 73% said they would like to become more conscious of “warm-activation” in this year when severe cold weather is expected.

Both men and women in their teens and twenties tend to suffer from “coldness” and “sensitivity to cold.

The overall percentage of those suffering from “coldness” or “sensitivity to cold” was 62.9%. Furthermore, looking at the results by gender, a high percentage of both men and women were in their 20s, followed by those in their teens. In particular, among men, while more than half of those in their 30s and 40s do not suffer from coldness or sensitivity to cold, the situation is reversed for those in their teens and 20s, with more than half suffering from coldness or sensitivity to cold. These results indicate that problems related to “cold” and “sensitivity to cold” are increasing among the younger generation, both men and women.

The number of valid responses by respondent attribute is as follows: [Teenage males] 79, [20s males] 84, [30s males] 83, [40s males] 82.
79 males in their teens, 84 males in their 20s, 83 males in their 30s, 82 males in their 40s, 87 females in their teens, 87 females in their 20s, 83 females in their 30s, 82 males in their 40s
87 [Teens], 87 [20s], 83 [30s], 83 [40s], and 83 [40s].
Survey period: October 25 (Tuesday) to November 1 (Tuesday), 2022 / Method: Internet survey (in-house survey)
