Cut the beef shank into 5cm cubes and season with salt and pepper.
Cut the onion into wedges (8 pieces), the carrot into bite-sized pieces, and the potato into large bite-sized pieces.
Arrange the beef in the inner pot. Layer in the potatoes, carrots, onions, and mushrooms. Add ketchup, red wine, bouillon granules, water, butter, and bay leaf. Place the inner pot into the main unit and close the lid.
Select “Auto: 6” and press “START/SET”.
After cooking finishes, open the lid. Press “Cancel,” add the demi-glace sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and sugar, mix well, then close the lid.
Select “Manual: Warm,Medium,” set the heating time to 15 minutes, and press “START/SET”.
Once done, season with salt and pepper to taste, then serve in bowls.
You may also boil broccoli in salted water and serve it as a side.
If you choose to stir-fry the ingredients first, select “Manual: Sauté, High, 10 minutes”. Add the meat and then the vegetables in that order and stir-fry. Once stir-fried, add ketchup, red wine, bouillon powder, water, butter, and bay leaf. Select “Auto: 13” and heat.
