SIMPLE INGREDIENTS LIST. BIG TIME GRAPE FLAVOR
When it comes to our favorite smoothies, oftentimes more is more. More flavors, more creamy textures. But we’re here to tell you today that this whole grape smoothie only calls for one ingredient but delivers an outsized fresh and pure sweetness. (If you guessed that single ingredient is seedless grapes, you get it). While we tend to use purple grapes like seedless concord grapes or muscat grapes – green grapes work as well. Your choice!
Expert-tip: use the best quality grapes you can find. When an ingredients list is this minimal, trust us, you’ll taste the quality (or lack thereof). The grapes you’re looking for at the store are firm, plump and heavy for their size. Avoid squishy grapes with wrinkled skins.
HOW TO MAKE THE BEST GRAPE SMOOTHIE
Just load your juicy seedless grapes (minus the stems) into the jar of your Tiger Edge blender and blend on high for 3 minutes. That’s it! We’d say the texture lands somewhere between a smoothie and juice. See our tips below for a couple of easy modifications.
Pro-tip: blend the grape skins as well. They’re packed with antioxidants like resveratrol, flavonoids and anthocyanins that do a body good. Bonus – no peeling necessary!
TIPS AND VARIATIONS
Be sure to use seedless grapes. This one seems like a no brainer – but blending grapes with seeds will impart a bitter flavor and sandy texture. Not nice!
Make it a frozen smoothie with ice cubes or frozen juice. This seems to work best when using a light hand with regular ice cubes, since it will eventually water down the grape flavor. Using frozen grape juice ups the grape flavor (and the sugar content).
Try using frozen grapes. We love this technique – because it makes the smoothie super cold without diluting the flavor with ice. In fact, using frozen grapes seems to double down on the flavor. Just wash and de-stem the seedless grapes and chuck them in the freezer for a couple hours before blending.
Add a little citrus. A squeeze of fresh lemon, lime or yuzu (Japanese citrus) juice imparts a pucker factor – and there’s nothing better than naturally sweet and tart!
Take it to go. Pour your freshly blended smoothie into an insulated travel mug. It’ll stay cold for hours. Just give the container a shake before drinking.
